01What we do
Luden Hall reviews games made by British studios, for players and families in the UK. We only write about games we have played properly, over several sittings, on one sofa and online. Every review gives a typical sitting, a save point to stop at, who can talk to you, what the game costs once you are playing and who it suits.
02Why British-made?
Some of the most inventive games in the world come from studios in English market towns, university cities and London back streets, from big teams to a handful of people. We like championing them, and it keeps us honest: we can tell you exactly where each game was made.
03Why split screen?
Many of our favourite evenings with games happen on one screen shared by several people. Our home page looks like one, with a pause button and a turn rota, because sharing fairly and stopping together are the parts of an evening most worth planning.
04The name
Luden comes from the Latin for to play, and a hall is where people gather. Our Hall has four rooms, from the Great Hall to the Back Room, and every game in it earned its place.
05Who writes the reviews
A small team of long-time players, from calm puzzle games to busy co-op chaos and big shared worlds, alongside parents who try the family controls on each platform we mention.
06How the site is funded
Not by anyone in the games business. There are no adverts, affiliate links, sponsored reviews or products. We host no games, run no accounts and take no payments.
07Conflicts of interest
If a reviewer has a personal or professional link to a game or studio, someone else reviews it and the review says so. We accept no gifts, trips or early access in exchange for coverage.
08The artwork
Every image of a game is an original illustration made for this site in that game’s visual style. None of it is official artwork, a screenshot or a real person. Our logo is our own.
09Why UK English?
British spelling, UK age labels and UK support services. No pop-ups, no autoplaying video and no tracking.
